San Francisco neighbourhood

Neighbourhoods in San Francisco are varied in nature. There are some which are easily identifiable by the community that lives there and there are some that are very location specific. For instance, Bernal Heights is not a place visited very often as it is situated in Mission Valley at the southern most edge. It sits on a steep hill and there are very few city bus lines going there. Cole Valley has Clayton Street on the east, Stanyan Street to its west, and to the south is Sutro forest by Tank Hill. This is a thin slice of San Francisco where the community plays the biggest role.

Deco Ghetto is a neighbourhood that has many shops, bars and cafes. With a new freeway off-ramp on the now wide boulevard here is one area that is trying to make a difference.

Fisherman's Wharf, the Golden Gate Park, the Marina, and Nob hill, with its city landmarks and some well known hotels, Noe valley which is home to a motley combination of people from almost all walks of life and North Beach or San Francisco’s very own “Little Italy” - These are just some of the neighbourhoods in San Francisco. Each has its own little tricks and treats and each has its own character and personality. Most of the places are either a combination of restaurants, shops and apartments or then they are far from the madding crowd, quiet cool and serene.

Inner Richmond is well known for its amazing restaurants and most find it a comfortably practical area to live in. Inner Sunset is known more for its horrible weather than for anything else although a lot of people live there despite this.

Some other neighbourhoods in San Francisco are places like Pacific Heights, Potrero Hill, Russian hill, SoMa, tenderloin, West Addition and Union Square. Each has its own complement of restaurants, plazas, gorgeous views etc. some have furniture showrooms and trendy night spots while others have live music and some superb bars. In fact Union Square is San Francisco’s focal point with its cultural centres and retail centres, and Union Square is actually the park that is surrounded by Stockton Street, Post Street, Geary Street and Powell Street.
